    I wonder if this is a rediscovered species, and not a new species:

    I notice the description lacks any mention in the diagnosis of T. rondoniensis, from the Late Pleistocene of Brazil. That was described in 2011. However this taxa does appear in the phylogenetic analyses and morphometric portion of the study, and comes out to be pretty close to the new species here.

    I first heard about this guy like 7 years ago…I wonder if the delays in publication or need to run further analysis caused them to be “scooped” by the fossil form, and whether that explains the lack of reference in the diagnosis.
